February Trope Reading Bingo Card


And now we have my bingo card for February.

I'd originally planned to start with tropes for my reading bingo but after looking over the cards I'd created I realized I really need to revamp the list and pull off anything that I feel particularly meh about or don't really understand what they mean. Plus there are some tropes that people don't tend to label their fics as, outside of Trope Bingo, so finding them can be difficult. And I don't want to use just my favorites because the point is to branch out instead of rereading the same things over and over again. Le sigh.

Anyway, Fandom bingo for this month and because I'm in the mood for long fics: there's a 40k minimum word count. It was going to be 50k but some fandoms seem to have this weird jump from 40k to over 100k, at least within my preferred pairings.

Back in October or so I realized I'd fallen into a bit of a rut with my fanfiction reading. Not only was I reading only Teen Wolf but even that I was largely reading the same tropes and/or fics over and over. A fan of Trope Bingo I decided to do one specifically for reading. Initially I created a 5x5 trope bingo card specificaly for Teen Wolf. A conversation shortly after that made me realize it had been months since I'd read anything outside Teen Wolf. To that end I created a 4x4 Fandom Bingo card using a list of my favorite fandoms. Then to prevent myself from just rereading a bunch of my favorite fics I made a second 4x4 card with tropes.

I've managed to finish the Fandom and Trope bingo cards. They're below with links to the fics I read. There are some duplicates between them in an effort to get them done by the end of the year. Also to save some time I'm just posting the links to stories so please check the story headers for pairings and ratings as well as any warnings. They're all slash except for the Arrow stories, which are Olicity, and none of them exceed canon-level violence for the fandom. If anyone has any questions just leave a comment below.

I'm not quite finished with the Teen Wolf card so I'll put that in a separate post.

What is it: An extreme writing challenge of 100,000 words written within 10 months. Or an extreme artistic challenge of 1 3 min+ fanvid, 1 30 min+ fanmix or 4 illustrations/graphics done over the same time period. Please see the Rules and Faqs for more detailed information.

Why you should do it: Well, bragging rights for one. It'll be fun and we have all sorts of great mini-challenges and fun events planned for the length of the challenge.

A couple of quick FAQs:
-Can I work with another author? Yes, two authors can collaborate on a story/stories together. You only have to write 100,000 words between the two of you.
-Is it fanfiction only or can I write original fiction? Original fiction is totally welcome.
-I'm an artist, do I claim a story now or later or can I do something completely on my own? It's your choice. You can work completely on your own. Or if you see a story in the author sign-ups that you're interested in creating art for you may contact the author directly about collaborating from the start with them. Otherwise stories available for claiming will have a synopsis posted in April.
