Fic Resolution
Jun. 6th, 2008 08:47 pmAlright, so at MediaWest this year I made a resolution to develop better writing habits. Thanks to work the last week and a half I've barely made any headway. Big surprise. However we are now back to full staff and I should be working more regular hours and not coming home exhausted in every sense of the word. So today I was mulling over just how I was going to make my resolution into an ongoing reality and not just something I did a couple of times and then ignored. A few ideas were batted around and then I remembered that some eons ago I started a livejournal which quickly fell to the wayside because I keep forgetting about it. Well, hopefully that is about to change.
I have challenged myself to an experiment. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Starting today for one year I have to spend at least one hour a day writing fic and posting it to here. The only exceptions being illness or vacation and in the case of vacation I should be writing anyway and have lots to post when I get back. Now what this means for any of you poor people out there who should happen to be reading this is you'll be getting lots of bits and pieces of various stories that may or may not make any sense at the time. Nothing posted here will have been beta read and I will most likely pick up and leave off in the middle of scenes depending on the muses whims nor will I necessarily be working on the same story two days in a row. I will be kind enough to post the title/working title of the fic, fandom and maybe even a scene title but don't expect much continuity. I will however post a link to my website for the complete story once I've finished one or if the fic is intended for a zine I'll post info about that.
So all that said the following is the list of fic that I intend/would like to get done over the course of this experiment.
These are all currently intended for zines:
Family, Guns And...Vampires?! - a BtVS/Mag7ATFAU crossover - Slash - this is about 2/3 written so I damn well better get it finished.
Can't Take The Sky - A Mag7 AU that's based in the Firefly/Serenity 'verse with the Brain&Brawn ship idea mixed in. Er, pre-Slash sorta. Haven't quite figured it out yet.
Land Of The Free - Mag7ATFAU/High Mountain Rangers Sentinel verse story that is a direct sequel to my Faces of Evil fic published in a novella zine. It's available from Agent With Style for anyone interested. Slash
Home Of The Brave - the sequel to Land Of The Free, same crossovers plus Sentinel, Sons of Thunder/Walker Texas Ranger, Due South and CSI: Las Vegas. I think that's all the intended crossovers. It's still in outline format so nothing is totally set yet. Slash
These may or may not go to zine. Haven't decided yet.
Calm Before The Storm - NCIS/CSI: Miami crossover - Slash
Storm Front - NCIS/CSI: Miami cross - sequel to Calm Before The Storm - Slash
On Wings Of An Angel - Mag7ATFAU - my Family Men series - Gen
The Bet - Mag7ATFAU - Family Men series - Gen/Slash - I'll know better how to classify it once it's written
Mardi Gras - Mag7ATFAU - Slash
Universal Coalescence - Slash - crossovers in order of appearance BtVS/Highlander/Harry Potter/Supernatural with the possibility of other minor crosses being tossed in. This is yet another challenge to myself - when it's finished it will be at least one million words long. Yeah, I'm nuts but, hey, it's fun. :>
Alrighty. Time for me to actually write some fic.
