December and 2021 End-of-Year Reading Stats

Another year has come and gone. I can't personally say that 2021 was better than 2020 but it at least wasn't worse. So that's something. I did meet or exceed most of my reading goals for the year which is definitely a win. I gained a new fandom which is good, though it did distract me a little from my goal of more diversified fandom reading. I can't say I'm overly upset by it. LOL

December Reading Bingo

This month went pretty well. I finished four pro books and made it halfway through a fifth. I'd hoped to finish it before the end of the month but I've been sick since the 23rd with a nasty head cold and it just didn't happen. Ah well.

I will say that I have such a soft spot in my heart for Goldman's The Princess bride, and can't tell you if I love it or the movie more. It's one of those that I'll always love both and never say which one's better. I read Red, White, and Royal Blue this past Summer, and it was such a great book. I can't wait to see the movie adaptation.

And I love that you color coded your favorites! I'm saving this spreadsheet. :)

Lol. I, uh, may have forgotten to keep up with the color-coding about halfway through the year. A good way to find my favorites is to sort by title or author and look for all the duplicates. Particularly stories read more than twice.

This year is going to be all about the favorites so I'll find a better way to mark them.

I slightly prefer the movie over the book but only because Goldman's continuous fourth wall breaks tend to annoy me after awhile. Mostly the "historical placement" ones that really do nothing for the story.

I really enjoyed the romantic aspect of Red, White, and Royal Blue but I wasn't overly enamored of the heavy focus on the politics. Mostly, I think, because of the current political climate. It will be interesting to see a movie adaptation.

Politics is my jam most of the time, so I think this book is my jam, but I can see how it's not everyone's cup of tea. And yeah, I'm definitely interested in the movie version! We're probably still at least 18 months out.
